Fibers. Fibers, in particular of the soluble kind, are well
known to reduce LDL cholesterol. The American Heart Association therefore
advises to include 25 -30 grams of fiber daily in the diet. Bios Life
Complete contains 2.7 grams of soluble fiber with 0.3 grams of insoluble
fiber and vitamins and minerals, such as chromium. Upon consumption of
three packets a day, the fiber amount fills the gap between actual dietary
consumption of fiber and the advice of the American Heart
Association.

Phytosterols. These phytonutrients
have similar structures to cholesterol and therefore competitively inhibit
the absorption of cholesterol from the diet. Studies show typical
reductions in LDL cholesterol with phytosterols are 5 to 15% over 4 week
periods.

Policosanol. This sugar cane
extract is a poly-alcohol that has been shown to reduce cholesterol
through inhibition of HMG CoA reductase. Several studies have shown that
dosages of 5 to 40 mg of this extract daily reduces LDL cholesterol in the
range of 20 to 30% over periods of 8 to 24 weeks.

Chrysanthemum Morifolium. This flower extract has been linked by internal research to
enhancement of cholesterol metabolism. The plant has been used for
centuries in the Chinese culture as a tea.
